Will Climate Influence your PKD condition?
Climate has showed different characteristics at all seasons: warm spring, hot summer, dry autumn and cold winter, which is called the regular pattern of climate. In our daily life, people’s adaptive capacity towards natural climate differs from each other. For those who suffers from kidney disease, including PKD, they are sensitive to climate changes because their own physique condition.
For the PKD patients and renal cyst patients, because their kidney undergo fibrosis lesions, which make their kidney a special physiological and pathological human body function of viscera, they are very sensitive to climatic changes.
Noinclude has said “The kidney disease attacks in winter, and heals in spring. If the patient did not healed in spring, the disease will aggravate in the long summer; and if he or she survived from summer, it lasts in autumn, and attacks in winter again.” These words sufficiently explains traditional Chinese medical science have studied about the influence of climate changes on kidney disease.
Everything develops in spring, which is good for patient’s recovery. But spring is windy and patients suffers from wind-evil easily. In the hot and damp summer, patients suffers from fire-evil and damp evil easily. In autumn, patients should take care themselves and protect their renal Yin ( yin and yang ,the two opposing principles in nature ) not to be hurt by the its dryness. And winter is too cold for patients to protect their Yang.
As for clinic, the hottest and coldest period are the two periods when PKD patients are easily to have bad changes of their state of illness. When the climate is too hot, it usually merges a variety of infections like urinary tract infection, intestinal infection, upper respiratory infection (URI) etc., which will influence the development of PKD directly or indirectly. When the climate is too cold, the PKD patients, especially those who are in the third or forth period and those who have poor immunity, are easy to catch a cold. Thus, it aggravates their kidney disease and influences their blood pressure (BP). So, for PKD patients, spring and autumn are the appropriate time to have treatment, which can reduce the bad influence caused by summer and winter.
Besides, at all seasons there are epidemic diseases. Kidney patients should take more care about themselves, prevent the infection, and not catch cold, reducing the probability of kidney damage.
